Two adult Black-necked Cranes arrived in Phobjikha

22 October 2013 – At around 2PM BST today, two adult black-necked cranes arrived in Phobjikha, one of the wintering habitats in Bhutan.

Last year, the first group of cranes arrived on 27th October 2012 in Phobjikha. On 30th October 2012, Bumdeling in Trashi Yangtse saw first group of cranes. The crane spend around 5 months in their wintering habitats in Bhutan and migrate to their summer habitats in Tibet.

The total number of cranes recorded in Phobjikha alone was around 368 while the total cranes recorded in whole Bhutan was 487 in 2012.
