SAARC officially granted UNFCCC observer status

Bhutan's intervention for SAARC as an observer in UNFCCCBhutan serving as the Chair for the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) made an intervention in the COP plenary on November 29, 2010 relating to  agenda 2 (e) Admission of organization as observers  under FCCC/CP/2010/4.
The intervention was promptly supported by India and Pakistan and in response the Parties agreed to accredit SAARC as an observer organization under the UNFCCC.
