16 April, 2014- Coinciding with the Second Regional Consultation Workshop on Kanchenjunga Landscape Conservation and Development Initiative, a research report titled, ‘An Integrated Assessment of the Effects of Natural and Human Disturbances on a Wetland Ecosystem’ was launched by the Hon’ble Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, Dasho Sherub Gyaltshen at the conference hall of the Tarayana Foundation on 16 April 2014.
At the book launch, the Executive Director of the Royal Society for Protection of Nature (RSPN) mentioned that the research report highlights on the changes taking place around Phobjikha Conservation Area and its impact on wetland bio-diversity, land use and the livelihoods of community living in the conservation area.
The report is beneficial in providing scientific evidence based information for pursuing effective management strategy for conserving the habitat of the migratory Black-necked Crane.
The book is a collaborative research effort between the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development and RSPN with financial support from MacArthur Foundation.
