The Royal Society for Protection of Nature (RSPN), in collaboration with the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development
ICIMOD successfully conducted a two-day training on โEstablishing Community Learning Centres (CLCs)โ under the Himalayan Resilience Enabling Action Programme (HI-REAP) from October 15โ16, 2025, in Phobjikha, Wangdue Phodrang.
The training was designed to enhance community resilience by introducing climate-resilient agriculture (#CRA) practices and technologies. A group of 39 participants, including local leaders, Agricultural Extension officers, RSPN officials and farmers from Gangtey and Phobjikha Gewogs, took part in the sessions. They explored the concept, governance frameworks, and potential income-generating models of Climate-Resilient Community Livelihoods (#CLCs), drawing valuable insights from successful implementations in Nepal, facilitated by expert from ICIMOD.
In addition to classroom sessions, participants engaged in field demonstrations and contributed to the establishment of pilot CLCs in selected farms. These centres are expected to serve as local hubs for knowledge-sharing, innovation, and sustainable agricultural practices within the valley. Through training, two pilot CLCs were identified from Gangtey and Phobjikha villages respectively.
RSPN extends its sincere appreciation to ICIMOD experts, local leaders, and all participants for their active engagement and collaboration in making this initiative a success.
