We are delighted to share the photographs and profiles of each of these remarkable White-bellied Herons. Through their names and stories, we hope to bring people closer to one of Bhutan’s most treasured and critically threatened species, while inspiring greater appreciation and support for its conservation.
As we celebrate Dema, Sonam, Kuenga, Jamyang, and Lhamo, we also renew our commitment to safeguarding the future of the White-bellied Heron. RSPN will continue to strengthen conservation efforts and work closely with partners within the country and across the White-bellied Heron’s range countries to protect habitats, advance research, support population recovery, and ensure the long-term survival of this iconic species.
