White-bellied Heron in Thimphu

White-bellied Heron recorded for the first time in Thimphu.
Sighted at 2230, this is the highest recorded elevation. Sherab Gyeltshen, an ardent birder spotted the heron at 1:40 pm at Olakha and called in his friend Tshulthrim, a birding guide, who confirmed that it was indeed a White-bellied Heron. Hishey Tshering, a travel agent and a birder claimed to have spotted the bird around the same area at 8 am but could not confirm it as he did not have his birding equipment with him at that time. The RSPN team confirmed that it was a juvenile and are currently monitoring the bird.
