CBST Promotion Meeting for Tour Operators

A meeting with tour operators to promote Phobjikha Community-based Sustainable Tourism (CBST) was conducted on 22^nd January 2014 at the RSPN JKERC Auditorium in Thimphu.

It was organized to provide a platform to introduce local CBST services to the tour operators. It was attended by 35 tour operators of Thimphu.

The presentations highlighted the introduction of new programs and activities which also includes biking facility, trained local guides, homestays and the CBST management group. The tour operators were also made aware about the rates of the tour packages and other CBST facilities that were decided in consultation with the project steering committee and the local community.

While the service providers introduced new available programs of CBST, the tour operators raised their concerns on some pertinent issues in Phobjikha for the tourists. They suggested the service providers to have a proper management and basic amenities for the guests. They also suggested to see if there is any possibilities to merge any applicable fees with the existing charges for available facilities and services.

The CBST Management Group comprises elected members representing the homestays and the local guides of both the Gangtey and Phobji Gewog were introduced to the participants.
