Eight cranes arrive in Chuzagang, Gelephu

Lately the people of Chuzagang gewog in Gelephu are witnessing the arrival of black-necked cranes in Dawathang and upper-Karbithang (Danabari) villages.

Three cranes had landednear the Moakhola river about two days ago and by yesterday evening, eight cranes were spotted by the villagers.

Chuzagang gup Sangay Tshering said, when four cranes flew to their gewog last year, they were both surprised and happy.

“It’s a surprise because the black necked cranes were considered to land only in places of higher altitudes,” he said. The four  cranes that arrived in November last year stayed for four months.

Sangay Thinley said everyday the cranes are spotted at the paddy fields between 7am to 8am.

Meanwhile, local leaders of Chuzagang had informed the villagers to take care of their dogs and children, and not to let them disturb the cranes.
