Heron Adoption

Background Information on White-bellied Heron 

White-bellied Heron (WBH) is Critically Endangered species with less than 60 individuals remaining in the world today, among which more than 50% are found in Bhutan. To save the bird from the brink of extinction, RSPN pursue multiple research and conservation programs, including the establishment of the WBH Conservation Center in Tsirang District to rear and raise the herons while securing the gene pool of the species.

Objective of Heron Adoption

Mobilize funds to :

  • Support feed for the herons in the WBH Conservation Center
  • Provide medication and health surveillance
  • Maintenance of Aviaries (bird enclosure)
  • Conserve the WBH population in Bhutan and across the range countries
