The Royal Society for Protection of Nature (RSPN) in collaboration with the Department of Forests and Park Services of Bhutan, the Natural History Museum and BOKU University of Austria, and Max Planck Institute of Germany hosted a joint symposium on the project,’๐—˜๐—ป๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—•๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€๐—ถ๐˜๐˜† ๐—ฃ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—•๐˜‚๐—ถ๐—น๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—–๐—ฎ๐—ฝ๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐˜๐˜† ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—–๐—ผ๐—ผ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ ๐—ฅ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฐ๐—ต ๐—ถ๐—ป ๐—•๐—ต๐˜‚๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐˜๐—ผ ๐—”๐—ฑ๐—ฑ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜€ ๐—ฆ๐˜‚๐˜€๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—ฏ๐—น๐—ฒ ๐——๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ผ๐—ฝ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜ ๐—š๐—ผ๐—ฎ๐—น ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿฑ (๐—˜๐—ฃ๐—ถ๐—–)’.

The ๐—ฆ๐˜†๐—บ๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐˜€๐—ถ๐˜‚๐—บ was aimed mainly in sharing some of the key achievements and experiences from the ongoing project. This project investigates the complex relationship between forest management, avian biodiversity, and wildlife health in Bhutan, with a particular focus on the prevalence of avian malaria in the bird community of the habitat of the critically endangered White-bellied Heron. The initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 15, aiming to protect, restore, and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, combat deforestation, and halt land degradation and biodiversity loss.

The symposium was held in Vienna, Austria and attended by officials from Friends of Bhutan in Austria, Natural History Museum of Vienna, BOKU University, and interested participants.
